Forgetting Sarah Marshall cinema review

The Producer’s of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up bring us another hit comedy with Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

We follow musician Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) as he tries to mend his broken heart after being dumped by his beautiful TV-star girlfriend Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). A series of one night stands do little to lift Peter’s spirits so he decides to go on holiday to Hawaii but, there is a surprise waiting for him when he arrives as he discovers that Sarah and her new superstar boyfriend Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) are staying at the same hotel.

Peter tries desperately to forget his ex with the help of the unusual characters he meets at the hotel and copious amounts of alcoholic cocktails. He finds some much needed release in spending time with hotel worker, Rachel Jansen (Mila Kunis.)

Jason Segel is hilariously funny as the unlucky-in-love Peter Bretter. You can’t help but feel sorry for him and hope that he finds some happiness but, the comical situations he finds himself in will make you laugh out loud at his misfortune.

Russell Brand goes down a treat as the cocky Cockney singer Aldous; he is the perfect opposite to Peter and a very convincing sex addict.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is packed full of fun as we watch Peter go off the rails and try to find his way back to normality. There is an interesting mixture of personalities and the characters bounce off each other well. There are sexual references and innuendos aplenty and the comedy is definitely not wasted. The producer’s know their audience and they really hit the spot with this one.
