Citizen Kane Oscar up for grabs

The only Oscar won for “Citizen Kane”, regularly included in Best Films lists, is to be auctioned and is estimated to fetch up to half a million pounds.
The Oscar was for best original screenplay for the 1941 film and was given jointly to director Orson Welles and Herman J Mankiewicz.
Sotheby’s in New York has said it will auction the statuette on 11th December.
Many critics regard Citizen Kane, about a power-hungry newspaper baron, as one of the best films ever made. Rumours that Rupert Murdoch will bid are unconfirmed…
